Exploratorium
I've been a die-hard fan of the Exploratorium for as long as I can remember. Founder Frank Oppenheimer's philosophies of applied inquiry and experimentation have been key influences on my creative process ever since my first visit in 1984. So when the Exploratorium asked Landor to write their long-form capital campaign fundraising book, I literally begged to be on the project. I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into.
573 pages of documentation to summarize. 12 independent committees to socialize it with. 7 weeks to complete. 1 massive goal: raise 350M$ to help fund the Exploratorium's move from the Palace of Fine Arts to Piers 15-17 on the Embarcadero.
To this day, I still consider it one of the most challenging – and rewarding – projects I've ever had the privilege of working on.
