I’m the “voice person”. A lot of teams have designers, illustrators, and coders help tell their story, but Google actually puts a lot of stock in how we sound and communicate.
For the past 7 years, I’ve promoted the Brand Studio through outreach programming, recruitment, and speaking engagements.
I've taught Brand Voice to Nooglers, full-time conversions, and well, pretty much anyone who is joining (or re-joining) Google. I also lead Voice training for over 30+ of our partner agencies at Agency Academy (Mountain View, New York, Singapore).
Once we even took San Francisco’s Pecha Kucha talk by storm, and my presentation, “Jargon for the Rest of Us” carried the night, hands down. With over 200 professional designers, writers, architects, and other creatives in attendance, the talk had over 1200 views in 24 hours and was PK’s “Presentation of the Day”. (And led to a standing invitation to speak at PK HQ in Japan whenever I’m there – which is actually more often than people might think.)
Role(s): Brand Studio Evangelist, Brand Voice Teacher and Instructor, Guidelines Coach, Comic relief
